The owner is facing a misdemeanor charge for a massage therapy license or owner violation.
AUSTIN, Texas — A massage parlor in Round Rock has been shut down following an investigation that discovered the business was offering sexual services.
The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) has issued a six-month emergency closure order for ML Massage for suspected human trafficking.
While reviewing the business, inspectors found an employee who had moved to the area from California living in the establishment and being forced to offer sexual services. Without transportation or familiarity with the area, she was unable to leave the establishment at any point. The business was also found to have a fraudulent massage therapist license.
The owner of the business is facing a misdemeanor charge for a massage therapy license or owner violation. She recently posted a $5,000 bond, according to Williamson County Jail records.
HB 3579, which was passed during the 88th Legislative Session in 2023, allows the TDLR executive director to issue an emergency order halting the operation of any massage establishment if law enforcement or TDLR believes human trafficking is taking place at the establishment.
