Police capture 11 suspects of a prostitution ring

AN alleged prostitution ring was put out of business during a Shanghai-Sichuan joint operation on September 15, as 11 ring members and eight prostitutes were seized, the Shanghai Public Security Bureau announced yesterday.

Police said the Sichuan-based ring was set up by He Juyou and his sister He Xiaoying, also a former prostitute. They allegedly hired employees to solicit clients online, as well as control prostitutes. The brother and sister provided the service in Shanghai and largely relied on SMS messages.

During the police raid last month, officers caught nine suspects offering sex services over the Internet. They confiscated a total of 14 computers at two apartments He Juyou rented in Mianyang, Sichuan.

He Xiaoying, 47, was captured almost simultaneously.

Police said the duo earned about 1 million yuan (US$123,575) since April.

He Juyou charged each prostitute 700 yuan as an "information fee" each day. He asked them to put the sum into a designated bank account when they wanted to "have a job."

After He confirmed the money was deposited, his "typists" in Sichuan would solicit information for the prostitutes.

If someone showed interest, they gave the prostitutes' cell phone number and address.

Police said "typists" were paid from 1,000 yuan to 1,500 yuan per month according to their typing speed.

He Xiaoying recruited prostitutes in Shanghai.

Police were first alerted in August when an Internet user, who police identified as Xiao Cheng, reported he met someone at an online chat room. The woman provided a detailed introduction and offered sex services for 800 yuan per night.

Based on the tip, officers hurried to a residence in Changning District. They agreed to meet a prostitute identified as Xiao Ying. Police captured the woman later.

He Xiaoying and other prostitutes were captured at their respective residences in Shanghai on September 15.

OK. After visiting the Yu Ping Sauna, I feel like my first post is inconsequential. However, I wanted to post it because I wanted you all to know that services are available all over the pace in Shanghai and depending on your perspective, you'll be satisfied.

On to Yu PIng. The reviews are correct. This place is awesome. I don't know how you can top this type of experience so I'll probably not try...I'll just hope to get back to Yu Ping asap.

Report from Shanghai: I’ve been in Shanghai less than 24 hours but here is my take on things form what it’s worth. Due to some previous reports, I took a walk at night from the Intercontinental Hotel in Pudong to the Courtyard Marriot. I was approached no less than 12 times during the walk by massage girls. Manager Zhang Chuanhu was given the heaviest sentence for organizing women to offer sexual services and perform stripteases in the Zhongshan Hotel, part of the Martyrs Mausoleum complex in southwestern Luzhou City, the official Xinhua News Agency reported Thursday.

The site is dedicated to people who died for the revolutionary cause since 1911, when China's last dynasty, the Qing, was overthrown by a revolutionary army.

Four others who helped manage Zhang's prostitutes were sentenced to eight months to 10 years in prison, Xinhua said. Government officials and police who helped protect the operation were also punished, it said, without giving details.

The harshness of the penalties appeared to be linked to the site's sensitive status.
