Hello again folks and hope you all had a pleasing new year

Ladies to let you know I submitted my 3 lessons you both helped with 1 of them and I got 100% on them all, so thank you greatly x

I have another problem I am struggling with here and wonder if I can seek guidance again......Not sure wether you can help thought it was worth a try as you did last time

1) What are the essential differences between diffusion and active transport and how does a cell benefit from them?

2) Define the terms "tissue", "organ" and " system" and an example of each with its function.

I have searched on the net for 3 days and I am getting to the stage I am ready to cry here as I keep bangig my head against a brick wall for a simple answer to these questions I have.

I know it may be a lot to answer and I apologise but I can assue you if I gt through all of this I will help others in the forum as well when I am done. I will also be placing a post in the forum under spiritual section introducing myself as I have studied many areas since a very young age from teaching tarot also and other areas alongside it.

Hope someone can help me you are all I have and thats not a lie

Taken from 'An Intro Guide to A&P' by Louise Tucker

Cell Membrane, A fine membrane, made of protein threads and lipids (fats), which has two functions: to keep the nucleus and the cytoplasm in the cell but to let other substances, like fats and proteins out. It works as a filter between the fluid inside the cell and the tissue outside it. Some substances can cross this membrane but others are blocked. Substances go in and out of cells in several different ways: (here are the two you wanted)......
Diffusion = the membrane has tiny holes, or pores, between its proteins and lipids through which small molecules, like oxygen and carbon dioxide, can pass.
Active transport = when substances are too large to pass directly through the membrane, or are not soluble in fat, a carrier substance in the cell membrane takes them from the outside to the inside. Glucose and amino acids are both transferred by a.t. It is active because energy is used.
From this I get that the cell benefits by way of getting the nutrients and oxygen it requires to live and reproduce.

A group of cells of similar type and function join to form a tissue.
A group of tissues of related function join to form an organ e.g. stomach, lung, heart.
A group of organs of related function join to form a system e.g. digestive, respiratory, vascular.
A group of systems join together to form an organism e.g. human body.

Andi, tut tut, taking our glory!!!!.....hello again, glad your essays went so well....Personally I find the Louise Tucker books quite basic but they are generally enough to get you through a basic exam, there are often mistakes in the Tucker books but you have to know what they are first.....

You have all be so helpfull i can say that from the bottom of my heart as I am trying to get through this and have no one to fall back on foe help and all my freinds are in scotland ect and well due to my accident ect I am stuck at home most days and find this really helps me to do these exams and allow me to become and alternative therapist like you ladies.

Course you know I will be back for help again and I cant think of anyone else i would as other than yourselves as your knowledge is fantastic.

I have praised you and the forum all over and even in my course forum there is no help like this they dont even chat apart from one lady and we chat private now on our own emails as we were getting no response.

Tigerbee maybe personal i noticed you are in Berkshire reason I am saying is I am in Maidenhead and noticed you have a practice and may actually make an appointment for massage to help with my back issues as my normal physio has left and this one i have now lets justs say I am paying dearly and gaining nothing from it. So may look into coming to yours and giving it a try as you know i am studying for full aromatherapy and advanced aromatherapy and massage diploma, A&P, indian head massage, accupressure. Hope you all think thats not a bad set up for me and a sensible choice.

The Louise Tucker book is good as an introduction, but it doesn't cover everything, so it should be seen as what it's called... an introduction. It also does have some errors.
