whas the best way to introduce a new cat to cats and dogs?

we have recently adopted a new cat,about 1 or 2,we didnt just dump him into our house that is filled with 4 cats and 4 dogs,hes been introduced to the dogs,and he hisses,and when they got too close he has hit them,but not bitten,and both times he has hit the dogs,he doesnt put out his claws,he hasnt been with the cats yet,because we want him neutered so he doesnt spray and the other cats have to get shots first so they cant be by eachother yet,but what is the best way to get the cat to not do anything,is it do you think we have to let them just do their own thing,i mean we cant really get the cat to stop hitting or growling its not a dog,the dogs dont do anyting just sniff him,so they are harmless,what the cats think whats the best way to bring them together? one at a time? becasue weve never brought an adult cat in with other adults the new ones have always been babies
