Hi there everyone this place is amazing!
I want to work i feel that I am a very talented therapist. It took me 4 tries to pass my test, and when i finally did.after three years. and alot of money... Now trying to get work is hard and many places you have to have ins. I am a mother of three at a job i have had forever(waitress, bartender, fill in manageronce aweek) but want to be a successful therapist. i can not afford ins right now. i even thought of interviewing for a job with massage envy. you have to have ins with them too. But i was told that based on my interview and practical they may be able to work with me? every one is like you have to get out there get what you want. well being a mom does not allow alot of wiggle room? what to do? what to do help me I am stressed therapist..

Part of being a professional is making sure you take care of the details. Insurance is extremely important to protect both your client and you.

Find a way to get the insurance. It's not very expensive through AMTA and I think ABMP is comparable.

American Massage Council sells the same insurance as ABMP and AMTA, but it costs only $99 as opposed to $200. That will be your cheapest option.

Ella Menneau is right. It's really not an option to not have insurance.

Is there anyway you can work out of your home? It does sound like you're in a tough situation. My best idea would be to save every extra penny for awhile until you can maybe take one day off of your work schedule and devote it to building your practice. Because I don't think that working at Massage Envy is going to be a substitute financially for your waitressing/bartender job. I haven't worked at ME but I have been a waitress/bartender and the money you make doing that can be pretty good.

Good job on persevering and passing your test. You obviously have a lot of ambition and passion for this work. Stick with it. Even if you have to inch forward, at least you'll be advancing. Good luck.

Find a way to get professional liability insurance. No reputable employer would hire you without it unless they chose to provide it for you. Practicing independently without it is taking a huge risk that is simply not worth the few $ it costs.

You can do it. If you can persevere to get trained and pass the test, you can overcome this last little obstacle.
