Opening New Spa - esalispa.tripod.com

I am a nail tech, so I don't know much about MT and what they do.  I work in a spa, but I don't see there techniques...etc.

I was wondering, what are the basic supplies a MT would need to work.

I know the supplies for the actual treatment, like mud...  but are there brushes?  What is needed for a wrap?  If I don't have a wet table, how do I keep the bed clean..etc.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

Hi.  

Here are a few links that may help and I'll give you a few answers too.

Supplies:  

•  sheets (you may hire a linen service or wash/dry fold on your own)
  
• lotion (if you can ask your therapists what they like best, I think that is the best direction to go.  I like Natural Formulations, but there are plenty of lotion comments on this site to give you more info on those)
  
• pillow case covers or headrest covers (Jenny Nebeker from this site makes them)
  
• massage tables (in a spa, I'd suggest purchasing the electric ones as it will make life on your therapists a lot easier)
  
• pregnancy bolsters or massage table that rises at the top part to make things more comfortable on the expectant mother (there is a thread somewhere, on pregnancy massage that can give even more insite on that)
  
• hot stone supplies if you offer that (things like the turkey roaster/stones/oil/hookups, etc.)
  
• scrub supplies (things like extra sheets/disposable foil-type thermal blanket/shower/hot towels/the sugar or salt scrub itself which may be pre-made or something that is mixable)
  
• hot towel cabi (for a spa this is a must)
  
• aromatherapy essential oils (if you will have therapists that perform this service)
  
• hand and bath towels
  
• muds and seaweeds (you can perform the mud wraps essentially the same as the salt wraps if you like -  they can be "burrito" style)
  
• robes
  
• small plastic bowls for mixing the mud, seaweed, scrubs in
  
• blankets and small heaters for each room - along with extra pillows

To be honest, I can't think of much of a reason for "brushes", unless you are offering something like a Parafango wrap.  And, while mentinoing that, don't forget paraffin, if you are interested in that sort of thing.
