best red rope place for newbie? suggestion?

Manhattan bar is on the south side of tongren lu. Its is full of girls, about 80% fillipinas. I like this place as its not like wan chai in HK, the girls are all freelance and there is no pressure to buy them a drink. The manager is a friend of mine and he does a good job of making sure that the girls do not pester the clientele. The best times i have had in shanghai have been with the girls i have met in this bar. my approach is to drop by late (after 2 AM) i usually go there with a friend so it feels more comfortable then basically just look around. spot a table with a few 9s or 10s then ask if you can join them (they wont say no, thats why they're there). Be polite, offer to buy a round of drinks (optional) and just get chatting. pretend they're not hookers and just act normal. dont jump in straight away with "how much?" they will tell you but they respond better to a little respect. I have never actually taken a girl out of the bar, I figure out which one I like the most, give her a name card and ask her to call me if she wants to hook up. Patience is a virtue and the suspense actuall makes things more exciting. Also by 2am its already getting late and you will not get your moneys worth.
A god tip: try to remember the names of all the girls at the table. they may ask if you would like them to bring a friend (yes please) and you dont want to try that sight unseen (trust me, been there lol)
after that you can arrange to meet earlier in the evening, say 9pm and meet in a nice bar, manhattan is a shit hole (no offence paul). Better to arrange a price via sms before you meet them. they may ask for anything up to 2000 but can usually be had for 800. if they like you and want to see you again ive had a gorgeous 22yr old spend the night for 500. First time round i normally offer 1000 as that seems like a fair price.
there was a girl called ivy who i met in manhattan and took her out/home twice. she was unbelievable and very proffessional. First time in Shanghai? Does it have to be a red rope place? for 1000 rmb you can get a good quality freelance Fillipina from Manhattan bar. I know its always better to meet the locals but they rarely give you more than 1 shot. Fillipinas are much more obliging and will stay at your hotel untill you tell them they can leave.
